Far & Wide was founded in 1989 out of Little Jest Puppets.
Since then we have toured nationally and internationally working with
over 100,000 young people and visiting more than 1000 schools.
Our primary aim is to make shows with young people, using
a variety of media, which provide a platform of inspiration for further
creative work. We tour our own performances, which are a mixture of storytelling,
puppetry and theatre, but our main work is our workshop and residency
productions.

We have extensive experience in making these events and
have received funding for projects from the Arts Councils of England,
Northern Ireland, West Wales, West Midlands Arts and South West Arts.
Recent participatory residencies include:
- 'The Biggest Puppet Show on Earth!!', where a group
of 200-300 children make a show in a day
- Nativity Puppet shows with whole schools in a number
of venues.
- Residencies for Devon Arts in Schools Initiative, making
'Creation Myths' with whole Schools.
- The Derry Community Carnival - a cross-community initiative.
- The Torbay 'Our Town Story' which was taken to The Millennium
Dome in London.
- 'Life-Size' at Bidwell Brook Special School.
- The Purim Story for Carlton T.V. Programme' 'Illuminations'.
We have worked in festivals, theatres, art centres, community
project but the bulk of our work is in schools. Over a year we make up
to 10 big shows with children and have a reputation for exciting and
innovative arts-in-education practice.
